There are several types of standards that may appear on products labels which can help you in the choice of lubricant, the most common are:

ACEA Standards (Association of European Automobile Manufacturers)

Divided into different categories designated by the letters A / B / C for passenger cars and E for trucks, followed by a number that defines the level of performance. Numbers do not have increasing or decreasing significance, it is necessary to respect the recommendations of the manufacturer.

API Standards (American Petroleum Institute)

This standard is mainly used outside Europe.
